One of the worst kept secrets is how good the craft breweries and distilleries are on the Mornington Peninsula, however, one of the best-kept secrets is how to do the best of them in a day!
A ferry ride across the bay will allow you to start the sampling of local brews. Head on down to Tar Barrel in Mornington, the original home of Mornington Peninsula Brewery, where you can sample their beer, try their gin and have one of the best wood fire pizzas you'll find.
The next stop is the Dromana Industrial Estate. That's right, this once quiet industrial hub is now home to some of the best breweries and distilleries on the Peninsula. The best bit, hop to each one in a matter of minutes. From Jimmy Rum Distillery, across to Jetty Road Brewery, a quick stop at Mr. Little Cider, try the gluten-free brewery Two Bays Brewing and finish at Bass & Flinders Distillery.
On the way back to the Ferry you have to make a pitstop at one of the newest and increasingly popular St Andrews Beach Brewery. They draw inspiration from their heritage and surroundings. Located on a 38-hectare property where Australia’s horse racing greats were trained – Makybe Diva, Mummify, and Miss Andretti have all called their stables home.
This will be a daycation that you will never forget, (depending on how much of the product you sample). If you don't have a designated driver make sure to check out Explore Australia Tours and let them drive you.
