QMM Pirate Day
Where: Queenscliffe Maritime Museum, 2 Wharf Street Queenscliff 3225
Come on down ye brave hearts and join in a swashbuckling pirate day at the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum, on the 26th of January 2025 11:00am-3:00pm! There will be lots of adventurous pirate activities for children and families to enjoy. Join in to raise the black pirate flag, play pirate games like our ‘ walk the plank challenge ’ , craft your very own pirate patch, and design the biggest pirate map there ever was!
Once you have had your fill of pirate action, settle down for marine story readings and hear about our local pirate legend Benito Bonita - and see his telescope!
Museum entry fees apply, but adults and children dressed in their best Pirate garb get into Museum exhibits and participate in activities for FREE. The best dressed pirate family will win some booty (a prize). Don ’t forget to bring a pirate picnic lunch to enjoy in the Museum garden.
Pirate Activities
PIRATE DAY LAUNCH:
- Pirate flag hoist: Join in to raise ‘the black’ over Queenscliff! Location: at the Museum Flagpole. Time: 11:30am
PIRATE GAMES:
- Skittles and Coits Canon aim: Develop your canon aim skills with these outdoor games! Location: Museum back yard near the Fisherman ’ s Waiting Shed. Time: 11:00am-3:00 pm
- Walk the Plank: Dare to walk the plank, and be challenged to make a speedy plank crossing! Location: Museum back yard, near the Mavis Pilot Boat. Time: 11:00am-3:00 pm
PIRATE CRAFT:
- Make your own piratey eye patch and pirate flag, while designing your very own pirate name. Let your coloring skills run wild at our Pirates Craft Station in the Museum galleries. Time: 11:00am –3:00pm
- The world’s biggest Chalk Pirate Map: Join in to help us create a giant chalk map of an island with cursed pirate treasure! Let' s make it the biggest pirate map there ever was! Location: Outside the Museum ’ s Boatshed. Time: 11:00am3:00pm
PIRATE STORIES:
- The Secrets of Benito ‘Bloody Sword’ Bonita: Hark and discover the story of our local pirate -Benito Bloody Sword- and see his telescope. Presented by local pirate storyteller David Golightly. Location: Museum Boatshed Time: 1 pm – 1:40 pm
- Marine Story time: Join in our marine children ’ s story time in the beautiful Fisherman ’ s Waiting Shed. Time: 1:40-2:10pm
